Diane Yetter photoIf you are located in NC and doing business in NC regardless of how you make your sales (in person, mail order, online, craft show), you are required to register as a retailer with the NC Department of Revenue and collect tax on all sales delivered to NC customers in NC. Any sales you make that are shipped outside of NC would not require you to collect NC sales tax. However, if you travel to shows in other states, you may then create a business presence in these other states such that you might need to register and collect the other state's tax.
